Toyota will soon release 6th generation of their famous SUV called 2018 Toyota 4Runner. It will have all-new design, improved features and more efficient engines. New Toyota 4Runner will be offered in several different trims. First we have base SR5 trim, then SR5 Premium, followed by luxury Limited trim. There are also two off-road trims: TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium.
2018 4Runner design will generally stay very similar to the current version. Front end may borrow some design cues from Tacoma model. Speaking of interior design changes, control layout could also be based on the one found in Tacoma. Future 2018 4Runner will be equipped with Entune infotainment system, GPS navigation, heated and ventilated leather seats, keyless entry and dual-zone automatic climate control.
2018 Toyota 4Runner engine and fuel economy
2018 Toyota 4Runner engine should be all-new 3.5-liter V6 unit from Tacoma. Current power output for this V6 engine is set at 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. 4Runner should also get new 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Some rumors indicate that we might even see 8-speed automatic transmission as well. Rear-wheel drive will be standard in SR5 and Limited trims, while AWD will be available as optional upgrade. Obviously off-road trims will get AWD system. 2018 Toyota 4Runner fuel economy specs should be improved compared to outgoing model. 4Runner will also come with many safety features and systems. This includes Toyota Safety Sense-P, which consists of autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlight control, lane-departure warning and possibly blind-spot alert and rear cross-traffic detection. It will also have Toyota’s CRAWL control, hill start assist and electronic locking rear differential.
2018 Toyota 4Runner release date and price
2018 Toyota 4Runner release date is expected in the second half of 2017. When it finally hits the market, new 4Runner will compete with Land Rover Discovery Sport, GMC Acadia and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Speaking of 2018 Toyota 4Runner price range, it is expected to be higher than before. Base SR5 model will cost around $36,000, while SR5 Premium should sell for $38,000. TRD Off-Road price will probably be around $39,000 and TRD Off-Road Premium will be sold for $41,000. Luxury 4Runner Limited trim price will be $43,500.
