Formerly known as Mercedes GL-Class, new SUV called 2018 Mercedes GLS will soon be released on the market. This full-size premium SUV is designed to accommodate up to seven passengers. Mercedes GLS will probably be offered in two trim versions: GLS450 V and GLS550 V8. High-performance Mercedes-AMG GLS63 V8 is also in the lineup. There will be no changes on future 2018 GLS, except maybe new color choices. Current version already received new grille, redesigned headlights and wider tail. 2018 GLS63 AMG will run on massive 21-inch wheels and in will have quad exhaust pipes. GLS450 will get 19-inch alloy wheels, while GLS550 will come with 20-inch tires. Inside the cabin, there is more than enough space for seven people. It has 93.8-cubic feet of cargo space with both rear rows folded. GLS models will be equipped with adaptive LED headlights, blind-spot alert, LED interior lighting, keyless access, power rear liftgate, heated front seats, pushbutton start, lane-keep assist, GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, front passenger seat memory, surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control and hands-free parallel parking.

2018 Mercedes GLS engine for base 450 version is 3.0-liter V6 with 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. More powerful GLS550 will be powered by 4.7-liter V8 engine generating 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Both engines will come mated with 9-speed automatic transmission. 2018 Mercedes-AMG GLS63 engine will be 5.5-liter V8 generating 577 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque. The V8 engine comes mated to 7-speed automatic gearbox. All models will have 4Matic AWD system. However, Off-road package will also be available. It will include hill-descent control, underbody skid plates, two-speed transfer case with low-gear and extra ride-height settings. Maximum towing capacity is set at 7,500 pounds. Mercedes Dynamic Select offers Normal, Comfort, Slippery and Sport modes. GLS63 AMG ads Sport+ mode, while some versions will get off-road setting. 2018 Mercedes GLS fuel economy is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, averaging 19 mpg for GLS450 and 14/18/16 mpg for GLS550. 2018 Mercedes GLS63 AMG fuel economy specs are set at 13/17/14 mpg. All models will be equipped with Start/Stop system.

2018 Mercedes GLS price will start at $70,000 for GLS 450 model. 2018 Mercedes GLS550 price is set at $95,000. GLS63 AMG will be sold for $126,000. Best competitors on the market are Lexus LX570, Lincoln Navigator, Land Rover Range Rover, Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80 and Toyota Land Cruiser. 2018 Mercedes GLS release date will probably be during summer of 2017.
