Kia is ready to release their new 2018 Kia Sportage SUV. This compact crossover was introduced for the first time back in 1994. Since then, this SUV has improved drastically in every aspect. 2017 Sportage was redesigned completely and it received new styling, refreshed interior and improved engines. Future 2018 Sportage should keep the same design as current model. It will again be offered in three trim levels: LX, EX and SX Turbo. Various equipment will include heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, rearview camera, Bluetooth, keyless entry, push-button ignition, LED daytime running lights, power driver’s seat and UVO touchscreen infotainment system. On the other hand, Kia will still offer Premium package, which includes heated steering wheel, blind-spot alert with rear cross-traffic detection and panoramic sunroof. Lane-departure warning, autonomous emergency braking and hands-free power rear liftgate are all included in technology package.
2018 Kia Sportage engine performance and fuel economy
2018 Kia Sportage engine in LX and EX trims will be 2.4-liter unit generating 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. SX Turbo trims are equipped with 2.0-liter turbocharged powertrain producing 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both front-wheel and all-wheel drive will be available, while engines will be combined with 6-speed automatic gearbox. 2018 Kia Sportage fuel economy specs for LX and EX trims are rated at 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, averaging 25 mpg with FWD and 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, averaging 23 mpg with AWD. 2018 Kia Sportage SX Turbo fuel economy is rated at 21/26/26 mpg with front-wheel drive and 20/23/21 mpg with AWD.
2018 Kia Sportage release date and price review
2018 Kia Sportage release date is expected by the end of 2017. When it hits the market, it will compete with cars such as Nissan Rogue, Subaru Forester, Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4, Jeep Cherokee, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5 and Hyundai Tucson. 2018 Kia Sportage price should be set at $24,500 for LX trim and $27,000 for EX version. Top of the range SX Turbo price will be set at $34,000.
