GMC Acadia SUV was introduced for the first time back in 2007. Considering that this year GMC offered second generation Acadia with new engine lineup and styling, 2018 GMC Acadia will probably get only minor updates. Current 2017 Acadia is doing very well in the market, with enormous sales boost, and it is now positioned just below Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer.
Upcoming 2018 Acadia will be offered in SL, SLE, SLT and Denali trims. 2018 GMC Acadia design should be same as current version. This includes LED daytime running lights and All-Terrain Package (black-chrome accents and body color grille). Inside the cabin, Acadia has ability to accommodate up to 7 passengers in three seating rows. Compared to first generation Acadia SUV, new version is smaller, which directly impacts third row comfort. Also, cargo space is much smaller now, 79 cubic feet (first generation Acadia had 100 cubic feet). Acadia features tri-zone climate control, push-button start, satellite radio, heated and ventilated seats, remote engine start, power liftgate with programming function, leather upholstery, 7- or 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Speaking of safety systems, Acadia is equipped with blind-spot alert, rear-obstacle detection, lane-keep automatic steering correction, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning and automatic high-beam headlights.
2018 GMC Acadia engine and fuel economy
2018 GMC Acadia engine lineup will still consist of various engines with 4- and 6-cylinders. Base engine is 2.5-liter 4-cylinder unit, with ability to produce 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. More powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine can produce 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. 6-speed automatic transmission will be paired with both engine types. 2018 GMC Acadia fuel economy specs should carry over from current model. 4-cylinder Acadia with front-wheel drive will do 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, averaging 23 mpg, while all-wheel drive model will do 21/25/23 mpg. Acadia with V6 engine rating are 18/25/21 mpg with front-wheel drive and 18/25/20 mpg with all-wheel drive.
2018 GMC Acadia release date and price review
2018 GMC Acadia release date should be set for fall 2017. As we said before, main rivals for Acadia are Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander. But there are also Nissan Pathfinder, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda Pilot. 2018 GMC Acadia price range will start from $31,000 for SL version and go all the way up to $47,000 for the Denali model.
