Ford will refresh their current Edge model with new styling and some other performance upgrades. Future 2018 Edge should get revised taillights, new wheels and few color options. Some exterior and interior details will differentiate depending on the trim levels. Edge will be offered in SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport trim. Ford could offer flagship Platinum trim as well. SE and SEL trims will run on 18-inch alloy wheels, Titanium trim will get 19- and 20-inch wheels, while Sport version comes with massive 20- and 21-inch rims. Upcoming 2018 Ford Edge will be equipped with various safety features.
This includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-maintaining automatic steering and blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert. Speaking of interior design and features, Edge will get heated steering wheel, panoramic moonroof, heated and cooled front seats, remote keyless entry, rearview camera and hands-free parking. Higher trim levels will also get LED interior lighting, automatic high-beam headlights, hands-free power liftgate, rear obstacle detection and speed-sensitive adaptive steering.
2018 Ford Edge engine performance and fuel economy
2018 Ford Edge choice will consist of same 3 engines from current version. 2.0-liter 4-cylinder powertrain with ability to produce 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque will be powering SE, SEL and Titanium models. SEL and Titanium trims will also be powered by optional 3.5-liter V6 engine generating 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. Edge Sport will use 2.7-liter V6 engine with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Only Sport trim will come with all-wheel drive as standard, while other trims will have front-wheel drive. Optional AWD will be available for all trim levels. Engines will be mated to an new 9-speed automatic transmission. This new gearbox should improve 2018 Ford Edge fuel economy specs. Current version can do 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, averaging 24 mpg with the front wheel drive and 20/27/23 mpg with AWD. 3.5-liter V6 Edge can do 17/26/20 mpg with FWD and 17/24/19 mpg with AWD. Sport V6 version is rated at 17/24/20 mpg.
2018 Ford Edge release date and price
2018 Ford Edge release date is expected in the first half of 2017. It will compete on the market with Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Murano, Hyundai Santa Fe, Volkswagen Touareg and Subaru Outback. 2018 Ford Edge price will range from $32,000 for base version up to $49,000 for top of the range model.
